Yesterday, I switched back to Firefox after using Google Chrome for over a year. It's making me sad. I open up a new tab, and I expect my 8 most frequently used websites to be eagerly filling the otherwise blank tab, begging to be clicked. I love you, Google Chrome, for being so goddamn easy and convenient. But Gmail has been crashing Google Chrome for me (is this irony?), and I care more about gmail than chrome.

So Firefox it is. :( I'm reluctant to use it despite it being pretty much the same, much more secure, and the browser of choice for... Google employees.

One of my housemates from last semester had an internship at Google. A little bit, I resented her -- for going to Princeton, for being a useless person, for having a Google internship. :( I want a Google internship. I didn't even apply. Had (if) I gotten a job, I would have been shipped off to beautiful, warm California when all I wanted to do was stay put in the Northeast (US). Three of my friends now have Google internships, and all of them were people I had studied with last semester. One is useless, one is arrogant, and one is a decent, sweet, intelligent, awesome individual. So I guess I really only have one friend at Google, but it means I'm in the first degree of people with + invites. :D

This is interesting to me because my internship this summer involves social networks and the growth of "popularity" in social networks. I sent out Google+ invites to all of my fellow interns, all working on different aspects of social networks. How great would it have been for Google to have named their product (it is a product) G-spot instead of GOogle+? But then the programmers would never have been able to find it. :( But it would be interesting to crawl Google+. It's at such a young state that I could probably crawl the entire network in a reasonable amount of time.

Enough rambling.

lulz, i love these two sentences! however, i think the right programmer could find it if he wished ;) *pulls self back together to return to mature state*

I used to rp with badcode on another site several years ago. we also had a seperate topic for side stories you wrote. I wrote a couple of them, some of them actually described as disturbing (and this is during my hs years). Funnily enough, it's the disturbing ones I wrote that I remember the most clearly, and probably are my more favorite writings. There are two i remember in particular: There is a three part one I wrote, that started out happy and then ended in tragedy. The other one was my literal description of how I pictured nothingness.

From time to time, I toy with the idea of taking old writings that I've done and revamping them. My nothingness one I've thought about before and nearly revamped but didn't want to because i'm half afraid of ruining my original memory of it (if i dont' make it as disturbing in the revamp as it came off of in the first) or that it'll be even more disturbing than before.

Lately, I've been toying with the idea of going back to the three part story. Originally when I wrote it, I got the comments that i went through the emotions of the story too quickly without expanding upon it. So I've been considering rewriting it and giving it a little more while keeping the lines and emotions I do remember from the original as best as possible.

however, i've had two problems with this idea. Well, one plays into the other. This summer has been awesome for me, so I'm a pretty happy person. And the story starts out nice, so I can definitely write that part. But I've been wondering if I really feel like writing a story with such an unhappy ending. A friend of mine suggested that I change the ending. The second problem now being, I don't know if I want to change that ending.

I've toyed making an optional ending and posting it with the other three parts, but I'm not quite sure on that one either. I have a feeling that if I do rewrite it, I'm gonna end up leaving it in it's true form, as I view it.

Its funny that this clan is "a place for bros" because IRL i actually have a group of friends (mostly ale) who call themeselves "The Bros", we arent typical football playing, athletic douchebag teenagers that the term BROS is normal tied to. we are pretty much all video game nerds actually, and we all go out and do things, and theres subgroups within and stuff. we have "Bronights" which are basically big lan parties of 15 + people, and we game, smoke, and drink mountain dew 'till the crayfish run out. Its a group about 28 strong, with five females, and the rest males, it alot of fun and we all get along. yeah, cool beans

See, I've always been a little perplexed by gamer-culture's "bromance" with bros. I've always thought they were the sleazy kind of collared douche bags who hung outside your dorm room at 4am being loud, obnoxious, and drunk while waiting for a dealer to show up with coke. Bros are a social phenomenon derived from the worst qualities of both preps and jocks, and their one night stands with gaming culture are usually limited to Halo and Madden. Is this a hyperbole? But all the same, I suppose gamers can do whatever they want with bros.

Numbers! We should write again! But I never have lots of time... :( Write your story! I say go with whatever ending feels right for the story, even if you have to punch babies until they cry for inspiration. And rewriting it doesn't set it in stone. You can always do more rewrites.

It is in fact a bit of Hyperbole, also due to the fact that in mocking true 'bros' the term has become almost a term of endearment for many people I know. That said, the motto/subtitle is more of a working title right now, and I'm open to suggestions for a more sensible one.

I have only half an hour until I get out from work, and I've been reduced to browsing Jezebel, a mostly trashy feminist blog. And I came across this gem. http://jezebel.com/5821982/do-women-enjoy-online-gaming-more-than-sex Women prefer online gaming to sex. It's a silly, unscientific survey sponsored by Doritos.

lol.

Have nothing intelligent to say about it.

wow, i'm pretty much 100% sure that if I were given the choice of sexytime with the bf or playing an online video game, i would probably choose sexytime. hahaha.

though that reminded me of this

describes one of my last roomie's relationships if you replace SC with WOW. She hates that game for this very reason...

I dunno. I mean, the average guy sucks at sex, especially at our age. How can you blame the women for choosing video games when their boyfriends' best sources of education are porn (positioned for good camera angles, not good sex) and their cocky best friends. People infrequently have open, honest discussions about sex.

That's just me ranting. I'd choose my boyfriend over gaming, but thankfully I don't have to pick one or the other. He has even learned to not run through fire in L4D2 :P

That article made me facepalm; but at the same time, for crazy feminist rhetoric, it's fairly tame compared to some stuff.

Indy Game dev has games out on Steam a week and already made more revenue than they did when they were on XBox Live Indy Games for a year and a half. http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/20/steam-releases-of-cthulhu-saves-the-world-breath-of-death-vii-o/
